PokerStars Launches Online High Roller Series w/ $11.4m GTD

Remember that era in poker when thousands of railbirds were glued to their monitors watching high-stakes online poker?

It might be time for some of that fervor to return as PokerStars is launching a new high-stakes online series specifically tailored to suit big bankroll players.

From Nov. 26–Dec. 4 PokerStars will cater to high-stakes players with a 22-event, high buy-in series and $11.4 million guaranteed.

PokerStars High Roller November

Despite a recent trend to focus more on the recreational, lower buy-in player, high rollers need some attention, too. And if they create big prize pools, that’ll get more attention from everyone.

Safe bet this guy is in.

Correspondingly PokerStars has announced a new series of events with buy-ins ranging from $1,050 minimum to $10,300 maximum.

There will be 22 tournaments over the course of nine days. Eighteen of them are No-Limit Hold’em tournaments while the other four are PLO (2x), NL Omaha Hi-Lo and 5-Card PLO.

The main event will take place on Dec 3 and has $2 million guaranteed. The series overall guarantees to pay out $11.4 million.

There will also be two “higher” rollers with a $10,300 buy-in. Both of them are NLHE events but one of them is a Progressive Knockout.

Also worth mentioning is the only Zoom tournament of the series. It’s a $1,050 3-Max Progressive KO event and should be so fast it’ll be difficult even for very experienced players to multi-table.

Are You a High Roller?

If you’re not sure how to answer that question, do a little test. The buy-ins of all the high roller series events combined amount to $65,600.

Did you just flinch? If you didn’t and you have that in your bankroll – or several times that much, for bankroll management reasons – you’re good to go and play.

If not there are satellites to all the events for 10% or 5% of the price of the target tournament, so you can get the chance to play with the big guys.
