24th | Farewell to Rene Angelil
Sundays are usually reserved for celebrities on PokerStats, this edition is no different, except it goes to honor a showbiz legend and part-time poker player who passed away last week …
Rene Angelil was laid to rest of Saturday. Best known for guiding Celine Dion to superstardom (both as a manager and a supportive husband), Angelil has a passion for poker and played as much as someone with a busy schedule such as his could. Many poker players made a point to Tweet out the fact that he one on the nicest persons to ever enter the world of poker.
Terrific human being!#RIP https://t.co/zzAeBHTdTf

Mes pensées et sympathies pour la grande famille de Mr.Angélil. René était un vrai gentleman, humble, et combien généreux. #RIPRenéAngelil

His final career cash would end up being one of the most impressive of his part-time career on the circuit, a 24th place finish at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio in December 2014. He earned a total of 63 career results on the circuit, 8 victories, and a combined 11 scores in WSOP and WPT events.
You can watch Angelil play Hollywood star Shannon Elizabeth in the first round of the 2007 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship:
Rest in peace, Rene.
