Adam Reynolds takes down the 2014 GUKPT Luton

26-year-old Adam Reynolds bests the field of 219 to take home the first prize of £53,500!

Adam Reynolds took down his first major poker title when he came out on top of a fairly experienced final table at the GUKPT Luton, that included the likes of Zimnan Ziyard and Carlo Citrone. The £53,500 first prize more than doubled his previous haul amassed over eight cashes dating back to 2009.

Reynolds’ close friend and former colleague Sam Trickett was one of the first to congratulate him. Trickett, the UK’s most successful poker tournament player in history with over $20m in winnings, took down this very same event in 2008, a fact he was quick to remind Adam. ‘Only the best win the Luton GUKPT!’ said Trickett.

Reynolds previously concentrated on cash games. He started playing the £1/£2 games at the Grosvenor G Casino in Luton nine years ago and poker has since taken him further afield to places such as Costa Rica, where he trained other players. Reynolds plans to re-invest his winnings back in to poker and already has a full schedule of live events planned including the Blackpool Leg of the GUKPT next month, followed by the Grand Final in London.

Despite an undeniable talent for the game, Reynolds still had his work cut out with one of the most interesting mixes of final table players in the GUKPT’s eight-year history. Fighting for their share of the £219,000 prizepool included EPT Winner Zimnan Ziyard (4th), Panny Ellinas (3rd), two-time WSOP final tablist Carlo Citrone (8th), previous GUKPT winner Vaidas Siriunas (9th) and satellite qualifiers Richard Pipe (5th), Todd Cairns (6th) and eventual runner up, Luton regular Phil Corion. Their combined £200 investment netted them a total of £70,000!

Attention now turns to the Blackpool GUKPT which will be taking place from November 9-16 at the Grosvenor G Casino located on the Blackpool Promenade. You can satellite in either online or at your local G Casino
