Daily 3-Bet: ‘Ingrate’ Cate, Win Like Fedor, More Than Thijs

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a napkin of names, a nip of champagne and a standing ovation for your speech at the afternoon poker news Emmys.

Have a hot tip for a future edition of the 3-Bet? Tell us about it in the comments (or on Twitter).

Today in the 3-Bet we find a thought-provoking speech at the APAs, the secret recipe for Fedor Holz’s success and world champs aplenty at the Unibet Open.

1) FPOY = Consolation Prize?

As you likely know the American Poker Awards were handed out in Beverly Hills last night and, despite PokerListings’ Stu Ungar doc missing out on the trophy it was still a fun night had by all.

It even spurred an important new discussion about female poker awards thanks to a thoughtful, inspiring speech by Female Player of the Year recipient Cate Hall:

Here’s a better angle of me being a world-class ingrate at the American Poker Awards pic.twitter.com/6t1vVznVZM

Brilliant stuff, especially considering how tricky it is to challenge the very award you’re receiving without actually coming across as an “ingrate” at all. Well said, Cate.

2) Oh. Just Play Like a Moron

So this is how you win $18 zillion in 18 months. Will try.

3) Hearthstone, Darts Champions Drop In at Unibet Open

After a fun Battle Royale featuring Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Charlotte van Brabander and a gaggle of celebs from the eSports world got things warmed up, the Unibet Poker Open got down to business in the Main Event yesterday with Day 1a action.

Besides an amazing one-outer for Andrew Christoforou that saw him nail a straight flush on the river it drew in such luminaries as Willie Tann, Chris Bjorin and Joe Beevers to have a go alongside the aforementioned Blom and van Brabander.

The stars continued to pop in on Day 1b today as both Griffin Benger and Will Kassouf are in alongside two Champions in their respective fields - Hearthstone and Darts, respectively:

After 7h of play, build my stack up from 30k to 45k. Pretty proud in this competetive field and a table that was bullying me at the start. pic.twitter.com/02gJwdd5DC

Look who I just met at the Unibet Main Event. Fellow dutchmen and World Champion Darts @MvG180! pic.twitter.com/MZl090oYJN

van Gerwen has unfortunately already hit the rail but Thijs is still going strong and on the feature table as we speak. Check the live stream below:
