Daily 3-Bet: Mezcal Phil, GASTRADER Bill, Sportify India

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a heated pit, a pile of roasted agave hearts and a perfectly distilled afternoon poker news 3-day mash.

Got a hot tip for a future edition of the 3-Bet? Share it with us in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Hellmuth pitching premium mezcal, Bill Perkins freewheeling $100k around and a GPL-inspired movement in India.

1) In Mezcal We Trust

What’s Phil Hellmuth up to these days, you ask? Oh, just getting Chairman’s tickets to Lakers games and pitching Kimo Sabe Mezcal with trusted friends. You know. Same old. #PHNiceLife.

Love this new television commercial for Kimo Sabe Mezcal, Jim Walsh and me: https://t.co/Joix0IwD6o #TheBestTequilaIsAMezcal @KimoSabeMezcal

2) Rolling Over a Hundo on the Thirst Lounge

As we’ve mentioned before we never get tired of watching people stream online poker from a yacht so have spent more than our fair share of time railing Bill Perkins on The Thirst Lounge.

It’s always a treat, and it’s always worth keeping an eye out for some amazing giveaways.

Perkins has fired up the boat and the webcam again today, this time putting $100,000 on the table for some high-stakes cash games with, among others, Jacob “Lottenice” Rasmussen and Nikolay “Fish2013” Bodyakovsy. Watch below:

3) Can the Poker Sports League Go Premier in India?

The much-analyzed Global Poker League had some hits-and-misses in its mission to “sportify” poker this past year.

While standing up to play in the Cube and wearing team jerseys definitely upped the “sporty” elements, GPL Season 1 didn’t necessarily move the needle when it comes to poker fans associating the game with “sports.”

That hasn’t deterred an upstart Poker Sports League in India from following the same path, though.

The PSL is now officially underway with Season 1 with the “aim to sportify poker and test it on a team level” and “give a chance to Indian poker players to showcase their skills and get the ultimate shot at glory.”

There are a couple key tweaks from the GPL, obv, with qualification open to all poker players in India, for starters, and 12 teams of 9 participating. There are both live and online qualifiers, team mentors, reserved spots for pros and more.

Needless to say it looks pretty promising and, according to a spokesman, sold out all 12 teams in 4 days. Check it out here.
