Daily 3-Bet: WPT Gets Fast, $200k King of Hill, Tback Flack

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a spectacular glass basin, a dozen extended tubes and the smoothest of hauls off the afternoon poker news hookah.

Today in the 3-Bet we find the World Poker Tour speeding things up, Poker Night in America looks for a king and Layne Flack goes for a hookah.

1) WPT Wants Action

Tanking has been an ongoing debate in poker for, well, forever, and various tours have taken various approaches to try and solve it.

Action!

One of the more effective? The World Poker Tour’s 3o-second action clock, which was implemented last year at the WPT Tournament of Champions.

It was so effective, in fact, the WPT announced yesterday it will implement it for all WPT events this Season starting Aug. 4-8 at WPT Choctaw.

The clock will come into play when action is one table off the money bubble and it’ll be used until the champion is crowned - although players will get time extension chips to use for big decisions.

“The World Poker Tour is proud to be the first to implement the Action Clock across all of its Main Tour events,” said Matt Savage, WPT Executive Tour Director.

“Many players, both recreational and professional, have expressed concerns that unnecessary tanking has taken a lot of the fun out of poker. Poker should always be fun, and it was a no-brainer decision to bring the Action Clock to all WPT Main Tour events.”

We concur. Check the details from the WPT here.

2) Jungle v. Kassela, Polk v. Hellmuth

A $200,000 winner-take-all throwdown between Dan “Jungleman12” Cates, Frank Kassela, Doug Polk and Phil Hellmuth?

Yep. We’d watch that. And we will, Aug. 22-23 on the Poker Night in America live stream. Fun.

3) Flack and Madsen Grab a Hookah

Ever sit back on a Friday afternoon and wonder what 6-time WSOP bracelet winner Layne Flack and 2006 WSOP Player of the Year Jeff Madsen are (were) up to?

Wonder no longer:

Throwback Thursday. Me and @JeffMadsenobv hit up Mediterranean cafe to catch up and have some hookah.
