Poker horizons and a few PGA pointers

After as an idyllic summer (ty Kaymer) it’s time to start thinking poker again. There’s a couple of great festivals in early September that I’m really looking forward to. The Irish Classic Macau Cork is scheduled for the weekend 12th to 14th of Sept and JP’s Mini WSOP festival starting the following week on the 16th.

First up the inaugural Boylepoker.com Summer Series event takes place at the Maldron Hotel Tallaght in ten days’ time, Friday 15th to Sunday 17th of August. The tournament boasts a €50,000 guaranteed prize pool with a €150 entry fee. The tournament has two day ones and re-entry is available. Brought to us by Boylepoker, J P McCann and Larry Santo, this should be a cracking game and will be run to the highest standards.

This weekend sees the final Major of the year. We have found a few nice results for the blog over the last four majors. Two 40/1 winners, a 40/1 third and 66/1 4th is a very good return from a total of eight tips. My own main decision is whether I play the odds on McIlroy. I’m not going to tip up a 5/1 shot but think I’ve found a few good bets in the supporting Markets.

I’ve had a good each way bet on Dubuisson to be top Continental Europe player at around 12/1. Sergio is short price favourite for this market and I can’t have him this week. He’s on record as saying he hates playing this course and the Kentucky fans are sure to give him a rough ride after his 2008 Ryder Cup comments and he must be feeling a bit drained and down after his recent crossbars.

The Next two in the market are Stensen and Kaymer, both are/were clearly out of sorts over the last couple of tournaments. It’s possible they can find something but I couldn’t have either.

Dubuisson looks a very solid option to me here. His recent top ten in the Open showed he’s fully recovered from the early season injury and he played well without really figuring at firestone last week. I think this guy is the real deal and I’m expecting good things this week. I’ve also punted him in top 10 & 20 markets.

The other two bets I like are Bubba at around 14/1 top American and Kevin Na 66/1 the same market, I also had EW singles and doubled both with Dubuisson. I could write another couple of paragraphs on rational of these bets but I’m running late for a tee time. Hopefully we can nick a few quid over the weekend to cover the expenses for the Boylepoker Summer Series game the following week.
