Ronaldo plays keep-ball in the Caribbean

The $10k PCA main event is down to the final 57 and footballing legend Ronaldo is still in the hunt for the trophy

The traditional curtain raiser for the poker year is well underway in the sunny Bahamas, and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is already making 2015 a great year for some big names. For Steve O’Dwyer, the year got off to the best possible start as he scooped the $100k Super High Roller title and $1.87m first prize. It’s the biggest live cash of his career and it means that he’s now won over $9m in the live arena. O’Dwyer bested a final table boasting starts such as Sorel Mizzi and Scott Seiver, and defeated Roger Sippl heads-up when he picked off a river bluff with just Ace-high.

The $10k main event was next and the bubble burst yesterday, leaving just 57 players to return and play for the first prize of $1.49m. Daniel Negreanu made the money but lost out to Pratyush Buddiga, with Jacks against Queens, departing in 94th. Liv Boeree flirted with a big stack but also fell before Day 4 in 73rd.

Juan Etcheverry is the current chip leader, with Chance Kornuth, Noah Schwartz and Jason Mercier all stacked. Perhaps the biggest story though is that of Ronaldo. The Brazilian footballing legend – and PokerStars pro – is making his deepest run a major tournament, and has a meaty stack of 512,000 to play with when play resumes at 12.00ET today. Can he make the final table and give poker another shot in the arm from the world’s mainstream media?

You can watch the Day 4 live stream from 12.00ET (5pm UK time) on the PokerPlayer365 homepage.
