World Poker Tour UK stop confirmed; Dusk Till Dawn to host HUGE festival

Dusk Till Dawn’s (DTD)  owner Rob Yong has confirmed  in a new blog post that the World Poker Tour (WPT) will be coming to Nottingham  in November 2014. It’s the latest in a string of massive festivals at DTD  and their success supports a change in strategy for the UK’s number one poker venue.

In 2014 alone, Yong and his club will have held  four £1m+ poker festivals, bringing super sized tournaments to UK poker players and tempting big names from around the world to travel to these shores.

By penning this deal with WPT, Rob Yong has attracted a major tour that has never really made its mark in this country. London had  a stop on the ninth season in 2010,  but only 171 players took a shot at the title and Jake Cody walked away with one third of his Triple Crown.

It’s a certainty that DTD’s effort will be far bigger than London’s, with not one, but two £1m guaranteed tournaments in the festival. The WPT National will have an affordable £500 buy-in, meaning a monstrous 2,000 players will be needed to meet the seven-figure prize pool. To deal with the increase in numbers, a licensed marquee will add between 25-50 tables to the venue, ensuring no-one will be crammed in to compete.

The £3,000 main event also has a £1m guarantee and will follow the standard WPT main event structure. Although there are no details of satellites yet, there are 50 seats included in the WPT National guarantee and we will bring you further news of how you can get involved in this fantastic venture on the cheap.

Other tournaments on the schedule include a WPT ‘Warm Up’, High Roller, PLO event and a six-max. The festival has provisional dates of November 7 – November 23, so keep it free if you want a shot at some big money!

It’s been known to UK players that DTD is the most impressive playing space in European poker for a long time,  and  hopefully after  this festival will  see our European counterparts in full agreement.
